Get crafty!

If you're feeling really adventurous, or looking for something fun to do this weekend, try crafting your own purse with a kit from Pick Up Sticks. They have everything you need to make anything from jewelry to slippers to bags from felted wool. And they're all surprisingly cute. But since this week we're focusing on purses, here are just a few of the things you can make yourself:

The adorable Geo Coin Purse kit comes in a couple of different color palettes and is perfect for your id and some moolah when you go out, or for keeping all of those little bits in the bottom of your bag organized.

Once you have the art of felting down, you can also get patterns for some more advanced projects, like the Dot Messenger Bag. You definitely don't have to worry about having the same bag as anyone else when you make it yourself!

Pick Up Sticks has an online shop, but you can also find their kits and patterns at Stone Mountain & Daughter in Berkeley and Article Pract in Oakland.

And if you're looking for some inspiration for making awesome bags and purses on your own, check out these pouches from Brave Moonman

Yes, that is a classic nintendo controller made from felt. Awesome. And they also have an amazing assortment or different colored "mix tape" pouches for you to chose from.  And they're made in lovely Oakland.

But while you're crafting away, make sure this doesn't happen to you!
